Historic Architecture Specialist

With a background in Historic Preservation, Architecture, and design, Leslie approaches each building with a broad sense of understanding, not just of its history, but it’s future. 

As a preservation professional, Leslie has conducted historic structures reports for privately owned historic buildings in Cameron, Carthage, Aberdeen, Pinehurst, and Southern Pines as well as for the towns of Carthage and Camerons. She served as the co-lead on a 2022 team that assisted the town of Cameron, NC in crafting a historic preservation ordinance and establishing both a Historic Preservation Commission and a Local Historic District. She has also assisted with architectural inventories in Rocky Mount, NC as well as Wayne, Dublin, and Rutherford Counties.

In addition to being a consultant for local governments, Leslie has served as chair of the Southern Pines Historic District Commission and vice-chair of the Aberdeen Historic Preservation Commission. As board president and co-founder of The Pines Preservation Guild in Moore County, NC Leslie has worked with local municipalities, developers, the North Carolina SHPO, and citizens in understanding historic preservation enabling legislation, the state historic preservation tax credit program, and other incentives for historic property owners. She was a presenter on grassroots historic preservation advocacy efforts at Preservation North Carolina’s 2023 conference.

Leslie has worked as a Preservation Planner for Richard Grubb and Associates since 2024. She holds both a B.A. in Historic Preservation from the University of Mary Washington and an M. Arch from Texas A&M University. She was the 2025 recipient of the Alexa Aycock Grassroots Leadership Award from Preservation North Carolina and was named the 2016 Ft. Bragg Military Spouse of the Year.

Leslie also spent 10 years working in the graphic design, branding, and web design field while being stationed at various locations across the world as military spouse. She and her husband currently live in a 1951 Colonial Revival in Aberdeen, NC with their two daughters and small flock of chickens.
